Job Title:                Speech & Language Pathologist  (Preschool - Eighth Grade) (1.0 FTE) for the 2026-27 School Year

        

Job Goal:                To conduct evaluations, eligibility and IEP meetings and provide direct therapy and consultation services to children.

 

Reports to:              Principal

 

Qualifications:        Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator’s License with Speech Language Pathology endorsement

 

                                               

Evaluation:             The Speech & Language Pathologist will be evaluated by the Principal.

 



Duties and Responsibilities:

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and remediation of communicative disorders 
  • Complete case study evaluations and determine eligibility within an MTSS framework
  • Knowledge of IEP policy and procedures, competence with IDEA rules/regulations
  • Provide direct instruction and/or consultation with assistive technology devices 
  • Provide co-treatment with other related service providers whenever appropriate
  • Collaboration for the integration of speech/language services into the general education curriculum
  • Analyze student data to inform speech goals
  • Plan and collaborates with teachers
  • Confers with students, parents, and school personnel to resolve student problems
  • Communicates student progress with parents
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Planning and Preparation

  • Demonstrating knowledge and skill in the specialists therapy area
  • Establishing goals for the therapy program appropriate to the setting and the students served
  • Demonstrating knowledge of district, state, and federal regulations and guidelines
  • Demonstrating knowledge of resources, both within and beyond the school and district
  • Planning the therapy program, integrated with the regular school program, to meet the needs of individual students
  • Developing a plan to evaluate the therapy program

 

Therapy Environment

  • Establishing rapport with students
  • Organizing time effectively
  • Establishing and maintaining clear procedures for referrals
  • Establishing standards of conduct in sessions
  • Organizing physical space for testing of students and providing therapy.

Salary: per URS Collective Bargaining Agreement
